It’s going to be 70 degrees in Western New York today. Do you know what that means? Summer is arriving! And do you know what the arrival of summer means? Open registration for the WNY Young Writers’ Studio! I’ve had a lot of requests throughout this year to expand our program to include elementary and high school students, and I’m thrilled to announce that we will begin doing so this August.
Fellows of the WNY Young Writers Studio come together to discover the dispositions, processes, and craft of writers. Our work is guided by our curiosities around what it means to “be a writer” and what good writing is. We welcome young writers of all ability levels as well as certified teachers who are eager to pursue these same questions as they relate to instruction within a learning community. Session sizes are kept intentionally low to provide student and teacher fellows ample time and space to connect and learn together. Financial assistance is available for young people who may need it, and teachers may attend free of charge. Professional development credit is provided at the discretion of each teacher’s school administrators.
